essayons de voir s'il en est de même avec le
prétérit BE + ING.
Comme son nom l'indique, la formation de ce temps est basique:
un auxiliaire porteur du prétérit + un verbe en -ing
Quand utilise-t-on le prétérit BE + ING?
--> pour décrire une action en déroulement dans le passé.
Ex: What were you doing last night at 10 o' clock? I was watching TV.(Que faisais tu hier soir à 22 heures? Je regardais la télévision.)
Ainsi vous allez pouvoir jongler simultanément avec prétérit simple et prétérit BE+ING lorsque vous souhaiterez opposer action en déroulement et action soudaine.
Ex: I was doing the washing up when you knocked at the door.
(J'étais en train de faire la vaisselle quand tu as frappé à la porte)
--> pour décrire une situation provisoire.
Ex: He was living with his mother then.(Il habitait avec sa mère à l'époque.)
